Six Key Points of Fire-prevention in Schools

School is a highly-populated area where students are gathering together, so it is a key area for fire-prevention because once it is on fire it bound to result in heavy casualties and drastic damages. Fire accident is unpredictable but is preventable. Fire-prevention in school has its own special features and the key points in carrying out fire-prevention in school are concluded as follows -

 

1) Staffs, faculty members and students are required to observe on their own free will the fire-prevention rules and regulations when entering into academic area and living quarters.

 

2) Do not burn tree leaves, rubbish, other combustibles and inflammables in academic area and living quarters.

 

3) Strictly observe the rules in using, managing and destroying chemicals in laboratory.

 

4) When it is inevitable to use fire, it shall be approved properly by following procedures and furnishing necessary fire extinguishing equipment nearby.

 

5) Within the living quarters, no temporary wiring, no provisional socket, no electric oven and heater, no smoking on bed, no candle, no cigarette lighter for illumination, no alcohol, benzene and other flammable or explosive material are allowed; No stacking of sundries and no cooking at evacuation exit. Keep fire-extinguishing equipment in good condition.

 

6) Enhance education on fire-prevention, establish a good environment for safety and fire-prevention, strength the training on fire-extinguishing for teachers and students. Staffs, faculty members and students should learn how to escape from the fire site, be able to use various kinds of fire-extinguishing equipment, know how to call fire brigade properly.
