Safety Tips on Summer Vacation

As the nationwide college entrance examination and secondary school entrance examination end along with all colleges, senior and junior high schools and primary schools being off on summer holidays, it's now important to control summer holiday fire-fighting protection. With the purpose of producing a safe, happy summer vacation environment, the fire department recommends some "reminders" and "tips" for students in general.

When entering the summer holidays, those students stationed at villages or moving o downtowns for family reunion are lack of safety supervision, so it's very important to teach student how to handle with family fire-prevention. Parents shall not leave their kids alone at home for prevention of kids playing with fire and causing fire hazard, except for emphasizing on children's daily fire-resistant safety education that stay at home form summer holiday. At the same time, parents shall stop their kids from playing with open-flame, fire or smoking and shall always remind kids of remembering family fire way to escape by heart and of grasping notices and relevant countermeasure for safely using fire, gas and electricity.

As the social living standards are being increasingly improved, it's a common choice for many families to tour wit kids on summer holiday and fire-prevention safety shall also be concerned. Do remember not to carry any inflammables, explosives or other dangerous articles; when staying at hotels or purchasing at stores or malls, they shall first spot "Safety Evacuation Schematic Map"; and when entering the scenic spots, do not carry or litter any kindling, and firing at forests and grasslands, playing with fire or any other dangerous behaviors is prohibited.

It's hot and dry on summer holiday, and cinemas, internetbars, swimming pools and other public places are always accessible for students鈥? summer relief and amusement. In such places, students shall keep an eye on the location and routine for the exit, stairway, and way to escape and carefully check whether such ways are accessible and whether the fire facilities are well equipped so as to enable prompt escape at emergency.

If encountered with fire disaster, kids shall calm down with no chaos or tense, then call to the police for help as soon as possible and explain clearly where the fire takes place and how dangerous the fire is on the site, and after that, proactively handle with the fire and try best to control the fire development; Facing the strong smoke and roaring flame, kids shall keep calm, rapidly judge both the dangerous and safe areas, decide how to escape and then quickly evacuate away from the such place; and do not care for any properties or blindly follow up the people stream or rush with crowding. Kids shall run to the bright place or open place and try to run downstairs, and provided that the pathway is blocked by smoke and fire, they shall leave against the fire direction, and escape through balconies, transom windows and the like; when escaping through the smog-filled way, for sake of prevention of smoke poisoning and choking, kids shall cover their noses with a towel or respirator and keep their bodies close to the ground and then escape away; and when running through pyrotechnic-blocked area, kids shall wear a gas mask, helmet, fire- and heat-resistant clothing and other protective facilities, pour cold water onto the head and body, or wrap the head and body with a wet towel, wet bedquilt or wet blanket, and then rush out.
