How to Escape from Civil Air-raid Shelters in a Dangerous Situation

Since the underground civil air-raid shelters are enclosed, high temperature, smoke or toxic gas will soon fill the shelters in case of a fire outbreak; poor drainage in the shelters will lead to rainwater intrusion; shelters built in early phase tend to sink easily, which will cause accidents of collapse.

I. Emergent Points for Attention

If a fire breaks out in the civil air-raid shelters, you should cover your mouth and nose with clothes, handkerchief, etc., and keep low and close to the floor or the side wall, and leave the site in the direction of safe evacuation mark quickly and in order.

If you are trapped in the civil air-raid shelters, you should call for help by knocking the water pipes or making phone calls. In the place where there are lighting windows and wells, you could enter the window or well and call for help.

You shall follow personnel's instructions in a dangerous situation.

If water flows backward into the civil air-raid shelters, the sewer pipe valves shall be closed immediately.

II. Experts' Suggestion

Pyralarms in the civil air-raid shelters shall be checked regularly to ensure they function well, and fire-prevention zone shall be provided to avoid fire.

Sundries in the sewers near civil air-raid shelters shall be cleared away to ensure unobstructed drainage.

Civil air-raid shelters in the earlier days are made of poor-quality materials. Once the shelters go down or collapse, citizens shall keep away from the shelter immediately.

If the one-store house above the underground civil air-raid shelters goes down or encounters structural distortion, residents in that area shall be evacuated immediately.
